Default Republic is interviewing

I got a call this morning from Republic. Invited to 3/29 interview. Just submitted a resume last week. Too bad I'm not eligible to retire from the FAA until Sept. (Denver Center Controller). Guess it's time to start working on an early out so I can go back to driving airplanes.

No kidding. But if that's his dream...

My kid is fifteen and has shown an interest in working within ATC. Looking for some advise on that career path.

Advice on ATC? 1) Military 2) ATC civvy school

Screw following the dream! Do you not have a family to support, no kids to raise? You're retarded to go work at RAH anywhere past your late twentys.

You want to fly a big plane?
How about flying a big plane with the biggest tool of a mouthbreather you've ever met in your life talking about his pet gerbel for four days non stop? Or maybe you'd prefer the guy who makes up his own laws of physics throughout the whole trip? They're out there, and most of them hang out at RAH.

Want to screw flight attendants?
How about a 320 pound gorilla, or a 75 year old granny? That's about all you're gonna find, especially at RAH.

Also an option along the above lines:

Air National Guard + FAA controller. He could do both, especially in Denver.

A four year degree is not a bad idea though.

Kzofzdc said that he is elligble to retire in September, a pension goes a long way to make flying for a living at a regional doable... I know a retired controller flying at Republic, got hired at 53.
ZDC, have you asked your stupidvisor about taking some LWOP? If you get offered a class date (good luck on the interview!) take LWOP, then put in your retirement paperwork!
Life is good in retirement from the ATC side, I'm liking life on the Part 135 side, but adventure is definitely out there!
Good luck, we're all counting on you!
