If you work at Qx you will work harder, have fewer days off and get paid the same or less as most other regionals. Not to mention: no upgrade and no Jet time.

You better REALLY think about it. Now that the arbitrator has weighed in and gave the pilot group a raise, air group will farm out more flying to other regionals due to "expensive" labor costs and anyone who gets hired this year WILL eventually be furloughed as QX shrinks into nothing.

You've been warned.

All you QX haters please get off this thread. This is Horizon hiring news not Horizon bashing. Im in class now and I could not be more happy. I know all the cons to what I have choosen and I will take the bad with the good. Your negative outlook is helping no one.

His point is that this is a thread about Horizon hiring news. You haven't had any input on the subject. Your experience with Horizon may not have been good, but that isn't the point of this thread. If you want to give your opinion of what realistic views of Horizon are, why don't you start a thread in the correct forum?

I think this thread really shows the failure of the APC moderators more than anything. That is a major reason I am not on here very often. People come on here to get news about hiring, and it turns into a *****-fest, and nothing is done to correct for the thread shift. To find any good information, you would have to search through pages and pages of drivel that isn't on topic. Its a shame, this could be a much more useful website.

As one of the moderators, I find it offensive that users choose to make unflattering comments about our volunteer work instead of reporting posts that may violate the Terms of Service. Fishfreighter said that QX is not in the business of making you marketable. Well, APC is not here to make your internet experience utopia. The moderators try to keep things in check, but we have jobs and lives outside of the computer and cannot always read every single post or thread. If anyone sees a post that might be problem, report it and we will look into it.

The kind of information one gets from APC is directly correlated to information users may want to post. This is the internet. Therefore, it's certain to have users who have good intel and many others who are simply disgruntled, jealous or just have nothing better to do than troll. Not every single post can be of value to everyone, but it can be to some people. If anyone is interested in working at QX, it behooves this person to do as much research as possible, and to know the good as well as the bad of each company. What I see posted here that one user calls bashing is not bashing at all. You are getting a valuable perspective from others who know about QX's management philosophies and practices. If I were really interested in working for a particular company, I am more than happy to wade through a bit of thread drift, sift out the information I find less than valuable, and take the important stuff that will have a real impact on me personally.

This is a free country. If someone doesn't find this site to his/her liking, I can point you to many other different places. Perhaps you will have better luck there.

I had a feeling that I might offend a mod with that one. I guess it is a difference of what people want to see. I think that much of these posts should be on the Horizon thread that is in the Regional forum (although that thread is full of complaints, also). That seems to be the norm on this sight, so, as I already said, that is why I am mostly on other sites. I assumed that this is how the mods like it (looks like I am correct), and that is why I didn't report these posts (it would be a lot) and instead just spend most of my time on other forums.

I guess my mistake was to assume that the mods would want to keep the hiring info forum for hiring info, and the regional forum for info on the airline. That is fine, it just isn't what I want to see. Agree to disagree I guess.

Just out of curiosity, what are the other forums that you would recommend, Vagabond?

You can't expect the hiring section just to be all sunshine and roses about every airline out there. Every airline has its warts. QX's major wart is upgrade time.

If you can accept sitting in the right seat for a decade, then QX is for you.

If all you want is to live in SEA or PDX then QX is for you.

If you want turboprop time instead of jet time, QX is for you.

If you want a quick upgrade, jet PIC time and the qualifications to move up to the majors, perhaps you should look elsewhere. Those are the facts.

Railing against the mods because they don't keep the truth from being posted is, IMHO, counterproductive at best and whiney at worst. Vagabond gives a ton of her valuable time to this website. Considering she could bill her time out at 5x what you or I earn, I'd cut her some slack.
