Curious, given how precarious Horizon is why pilots are applying....word is they lost their arbitration...pay cuts for all...puts them at skywest etc...for pay and benefits.....their prospects seem about as bright as comair.....both terrific airlines in their day but both headed for extinction/buyout....

Because I need a job. I don't have the tt to go 135 and I want to go 121 so I can later on go fly 747s with my dad at his company.

Daddy whale pilot or not, good chance you're gonna need turbine PIC to get hired. Horizon ain't the place to get it, sadly .

Not surprising but my QX buds hadn't heard one way or another yet. Where'd you hear it from?

Interviews for the Dec 1 class will most likely be end of this month. Im guessing the last week of Oct but maybe sooner... Sorry to hear they already emailed a "no thanks" letter out....

Hoping to get a call/email about an interview sometime soon. Next week the latest Im guessing.

Post back if you have heard anything, other hopeful QX pilots, please.

I wouldnt worry too much if you are a current 121 folk, I might have screwed up on the application which may be why I got spit out so soon.

Thanks, but I am aware that I need turbine PIC time to go fly with "Daddy", however if you have suggestions of where to go to get TPIC, I'm all ears. Especially since I'm not having regionals knocking my door down wanting to hire me.

Take my advice or leave it, just know I'm talking from the standpoint of having wasted several years of my career flying for an airline where I was never going to upgrade. Friends who started about the same time as me but went to other regionals are at the majors now. I also have friends still at QX after 8 years with no upgrade in sight. Don't put yourself in that situation if you can help it.

Edit: one last note, QX was once a great company that has pretty seriously gone down the toilet. Morale is horrible there. That said, it's still a good place to go if you a) have to live in the Pacific Northwest b) can't go to Alaska c) don't mind retiring at a regional airline. It doesn't sound like all three criteria apply to you, thus my advice above.

Got an email from Kathy today saying that I was incorrectly rejected and asked to resubmit. Guess it had something to do with the assessment question section.
