Default Horizon Air Hiring

This just in:

REPORTS TO: Chief Pilot Office

HORIZON AIR STORY

Horizon Air: behind the name are men and women with a "can-do" spirit and a passion for excellence. Launched in 1981, Horizon Air provides service to cities throughout California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Baja California Sur (Mexico), and British Columbia and Alberta (Canada). Together, Horizon Air and sister carrier Alaska Airlines serve more than 90 cities and are subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE:ALK).

It's a heartfelt approach, as much as technological innovations and customer-pleasing onboard service, that is at the core of the "Horizon experience". This has brought us national and international recognition: Horizon Air was named "Regional Airline of the Year" by Air Transport World magazine in 2007 and was also ranked among the top 10 domestic single-class airlines by Travel+Leisure magazine readers from 2002 through 2009.

This is a great opportunity if you want to live in the Pacific NW and would be happy finishing your career as a Q400 CA.

QX F/Os currently spend a decade in the right seat before they upgrade.

They have a pretty good flow up to Alaska last I heard. I still consider horizon the best regional to work for. Their pilots whine a lot less than any other regional pilots. Hence they have the least amount of threads on apc. When Alaska starts hiring I'm sure the upgrades will shorten significantly.

That being said...isn't QX the "best" regional to get stuck in the right seat at?

(Grammar might be a bit off since....well....it's late)

Kinda sorta. If you have 2000 SIC at QX, you might be lucky enough to get an interview. As I understand it 30% of the INTERVIEWS are reserved for QX pilots. It is not a flow-up by any stretch of the imagination.

I guess...if that's what your career goal is. Personally, mine was to be a Captain at a Major airline. To keep your options open, you need to get that 1000 TPIC as quickly as possible. I'm not saying QX is a bad place to work, its just easy to get bogged down there.

I definitely feel you there, it's just come time for me to get my feelers out there again.

On one of the last questions there is a box to explain. Put in none or n/a and see if that works. I had the same problem.
