European pilot applying for UPS

Hi everybody,

I would like to know what the actual chances would be for someone in my position to land a job with UPS. I was a pilot for Swissair and lost my job after 9/11 as so many of you in the US did. After being unemployed for 1.5 years I have since worked for three other companies in Europe. My wife is American and we would like to move back to the States (I have a permanent resident card). I have over 2500 hours on jets, rated and flown both 737/300-700 and A319/20/21, but no PIC jet time yet. I'm looking at another 2 years to get command with my current employer. I noticed the additional requirement of PIC jet time on the requirements page for flight officers with UPS, so I guess they did that for a reason?

I'd appreciate any comments good or bad !

Happy flying and Cheers from London !

I know of a few pilots that are from Europe that fly here at UPS. One doesn't even have a U.S. passport, he uses his Dutch one instead.

UPS is firm about the 1,000 hours of P.I.C in a turbine powered airplane.

Once you have that, then it's a matter of networking. UPS has a good ole boy club here. You must have a UPS or management pilot recommendation, or you don't stand a chance. Sad but true.

That said, good luck!!
