At this company, it is completely dependent upon is they hire more after you. I still have occasional reserve days almost 2 years in, and since the first of the year I've moved backwards on the bid triangle. There are 8 year guys on reserve in PDX. There will be a base in ANC, but I doubt there will be any overnights. Probably all day trips. On the low end, I'd guess maybe 6-8 months for a line up there. We do have movement, but its usually backwards.

If ANC goes junior like it probably will, you may get a line quickly. But then all of the senior FO's will start rolling in above you as soon as the word is out. That's what is currently happening in Spokane... People from Seattle and Boise have been coming over so they can bid closer to the top. Throw in the fact that the company has almost tripled the number of reserve lines in the last three bids, and you have a situation where even if you hold a line, you aren't safe. I've been an on-and-off line holder/reserve guy pretty much since I started here.

2 steps forward, 1.98 steps back.

Do they prefer lower-time people? I am very high time (about 6000 hours turbine) and live in Anchorage, so wouldn't mind permanent reserve and day trips. Also, what is the specific rig? Is it by day or by month? Thanks!

I see 100 hours ME is "strongly preferred", but what is competative?
