Looking for suggestions as to what to do next.

7000 TT
6 type ratings (hs125,ce500,ce560xl,ce650,ce680,ea500s)
Currently flying an Eclipse 500
I have been in the corporate world since 1999 and concerned with the apparent need for college to secure an airline job.

Go to college, perhaps?

That's the obvious advice. Hopefully you've got some PIC time in there. With the state of the industry today, the college thing may keep you out of one of the better airlines for now.

Thanks,close to 6000 hrs pic .
I am 45 years old,with a wife and child.
Just curious if college is that important.

If your interested in the airlines. Take some time out of your logbook.

Apply everywhere and accept the offer that works for you and your family?

I think a lateral in the corporate world will keep you in a similar lifestyle as you're accustomed to now. However, if you're interested in the airlines I'd apply to Delta and UCH and avoid the regionals (you'll never make the money you need). Selection is certainly more difficult without college, but not impossible.

Thanks for the info.i have been very fortunate in the past (less fortunate as time goes by and people downsize).

If I were 45 with a wife and kids, I would not want to go 121... That said, "Apply everywhere and accept the offer that works for you and your family? " as HSLD said is the best answer. You simply don't know who will even hire you. Worry about it when you have an offer.
