Nope, not at Spirit. 14.5 hr/day aircraft utilization for December. Anyone else hear that sucking sound? Must be Virgin's cash reserves...

FWIW, VA is a good place to work. That is coming from someone that just left after only 10 months there. I will probably take a hit in QOL by leaving, but I will certainly feel more secure with my job. A junior lineholder (around October or November I was only 2 from the bottom as far as line holders) you can have 17-18 days off per month with a 75ish hour line. Yeah, the pay isn't great. QOL has value, however. For me, what is QOL if you're going to end up in the unemployment line? That is what I fear for that operation. I enjoyed almost every day I worked there, but it is frustrating to see them spend the way that they do when they haven't made a dollar. Its like watching our government operate!

Lotta angry people in this thread. Seems like it would be best for airlines like Virgin, that offers a better product than any domestic airline to fail, and airlines like Spirit to succeed....

So, you're calling Spirit a second tier airline? I honestly don't know because I haven't looked at either from an employment standpoint. What's the deal with Spirit? Will they be around for a while?

Spirit has been around for 30 years and makes over 100 million a year.

Virgin has been around 5 and lost over 500 million so far.

I'm not bashing Virgin. I think there product is great but there are some obvious problems.

Oh no, not at all. Spirit will be in the US, and for a very long time. They have a target audience that will never, ever leave them. Those people will sit, and complain, and say "I will NEVER fly their airline again!" and 2 months later, see that it's $40 cheaper to fly on Spirit, and do it again.

Their pilots fought, and struck for their contract, that they deserved, and are paid OK. However, Virgin is the only airline that offers what people complain about, and is dying. People on here will bash VX pilots for being paid less than industry average, and then 2 seconds later, laugh at the airline for losing $650m since inception, as if the airline has money to give it's pilots raises.
