Main Purpose of the Role
The First Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe journey and a positive experience for all guests. This position will safely operate the aircraft in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies and procedures while maintaining a lasting impression of friendliness. The First Officer should be an outstanding service representative of the Virgin America brand.

**YOU WILL BE BASED IN EITHER LAX OR SFO**

Professional Experience & Certifications Required

FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certification
4,000 hours total time in airplanes (excluded: Helo, Sim, F/E time)
Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate
Must pass FAA mandated drug test
FCC Radio License
Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s license
Current passport
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Must pass required federal background checks and Virgin America pre-employment background checks
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Internet e-mail functions


Preferred Qualifications
Check Airmen or Instructor time
1000 hours total time as PIC, in turbine or jet aircraft
Airbus A320 type rating

Brand new airline?

That assessment cracks me up, are they trying to hire lawyers or button pushers for a soon to be defunct airline.

Sounds like quite a few leaving to generate the need for replacement hiring.

That's what I was thinking. Just recently, VX announced delay of aircraft deliveries to help slow the bleeding.

They just want to make sure you'll have no problem finding a second job to help make ends meet.

So why do you guys hate Virgin America?

Sounds like a great job but unfortunately thanks to a fun night with a girl back in the day, I no longer qualify to work for this company.

It probably has to do with a combination of their low pay rates dragging us all down coupled with their non-Union status.

Virgin pilots fly A320s for RJ wages.
