American Eagle hiring 60 per month
I have been advised that American Eagle recruitment goal is 60 per month but the actual number they would like to hire a month is quite higher then that.
Apply at www.americaneaglecareers.com |
thats a lot of pilots, why so many?

Because we are extremely short staffed and flowbacks are going back to AA plus the company has plans for expansion. This information comes from a supervisory pilot who I flew with last week who is in charge of staffing. American Eagle is so short staffed that estimated 9,000 block hours may go uncovered during the holidays. On days where staffing is determined to be low the company is paying 175% to entice pilots to fly overtime.

One of the pilots I worked with recent left to start his new hire class with Eagle. He was told that the upgrade time is expected to drop significantly as the AA pilots are recalled. Do you have any idea as to what the upgrade time is looking like these days? What are the expansion plans for Eagle? Are they sticklers for the results of the health exam at the interview (ie do i need to go on the cheerios and lettuce diet a month before my interview)?

Currently upgrade time sucks about 6/7 years to SF340 Captain. The only expansion plans that have been anounced is to pull 10 Saabs out of the desert and return them to service for short haul flights. This will free up Embraer RJ's to do additional flying. We also have options on 25 additional CRJ but have exercised the options at this time. The managment pilot that I flew with recently told me there were additional plans but he was not at liberty to say what such plans were. They do like your medical results to be good. I can't blame them they are looking for a good return on their investment. Eat good and drink lots of water for a couple of weeks and there shouldn't be a problem. It is just a routine physical. The cognitve learning test requirement has been dropped and that was the hardest part of the whole medical exam. plus if they find anything on the exam you would probably like to know about it anyway. Good luck if your intersted. |
Not sure I really understand the medical exam. If you hold a 1st class medical what more do they want? Are the sticking you with needles or something? What the heck could they possible be looking for?

Eagle Mins
Do you foresee Eagles minimums coming down from the 1000 and 100 that is posted on their website now? 60 pilots per month seems like a ton and I've read other posts on here that said many of the regionals are having trouble filling classes right now. I have no problem with a long upgrade and that seems to be the one point everyone brings up when speaking about Eagle. If anyone has any information on actual hours for people getting hired at Eagle I would appreciate hearing them. I assume a vision test is required for this medical that they give. This scares me a bit because I barely pass my vision test every year for my FAA medical.

The physical was the same as a long-form flight physical for the military:
Blood work (4 vials) Vision Hearing Urinalysis (1 for labs, 1 for DOT) 12 Lead ECG Physical Exam (thorough) I was out of there @ 1300. Having done about 7 of these, make sure you drink A LOT of water while you are fasting. Being well hydrated makes the blood draw easier...along with the Urinalysis. Also the PA doing the physical exam was pretty cute for an older woman :D Nothing to worry about, it's for their insurance and HMO (what they said anyway). I've got horrible hearing thanks to the US Navy and the ridiculously loud aircraft I've flown, and they sent me a letter saying to have it checked again but it would NOT affect my employment offer. Just relax guys...knowledge makes the unknown less scary. Spongebob |
500 and 100 if your from UND. I would not look forward to sitting on reserve in Puerto Rico!
