American airlines to attend obap mia job fair

I just signed up to attend the OBAP job fair in Miami which will be July 31st to August 2nd. I saw on the list that american airlines will be attending however there was no specific info regarding their attendance as to whether or not they will be a accepting resumes for pilots. I have been told from a few valid sources they will be opening their application window using a third party vendor for street hire pilots by late summer.Does anyone know if american will be at this job fair specifically for pilots or if its just for other aviation occupations such as mechanics, flight attendants etc.?

I heard from a friend that American Eagle will be definitely accepting resumes at OBAP, but nothing was mentioned about American Airlines.

AA was at WAI in March also..... just informative talking with pilots.

American will not be at OBAP specifically for Pilots.. There are going to Oshkosh as well. They are sending pilots to these events - not recruiters / HR people.

Slightly off topic but what is the dress code for the OBAP job fair? I cant seem to find it on any of their literature.

You want to dress to impress. Suit and tie.

I will be going wed but I am worried it might be a waste of time now. I have also heard Alaska will be there. The only other thing I could find on this is that it mostly seams like it will be flight schools or vendors looking for people.

Heard a rumor that some people were doing testing down at DFW, I called B.S. Anybody confirm/deny that?

Elcid93 08-08-2013 08:56 AM

Here's the biggest AA rumor from OBAP I was told by an AA FO... Application window opening soon, you will have to upload a video of yourself to the application. He said he was serious, I call BS.

My guess was this was an inside joke between guys there to see what popped up on APC first. Legal ramifications?

The amount of sever space a video would require would make this near impossible. Most airlines app website crash anyways with just data.

At the Job fair at the EAA last week I talked to AA and they did not accept resumes. They told me they would be opening up applications soon and you would apply on airline apps. Guessing it was the same at this Job fair.

Interesting.... another related thread about AA at OBAP, people were specifically told it would the application method would not be airline apps.

We will all soon find out!

I forgot who I talked too but he did have a little confusion on his face when I asked him if it would be like eagle or something different. He ended up saying it would but he might have misunderstood me and thought I was asking if it would be via applications. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I spoke with Patty Taylor (head of HR?) at OBAP and she said they are hoping for a class at the beginning of '14 with an online app later this year. She told me they would NOT likely be using AirlineApps but instead are leaning toward Pilot Credentials. No résumés were taken.

So, now that we know it's Airline Apps, forgive me a stupid question: There is no column for 'Dual' in the flight time matrix. Should I be counting as PIC that Dual I received when I was qualified in the a/c? I thought that was generally not desired, but otherwise, some of my flight time will vanish (not logged as PIC, and no 'Dual' column available). What have others been doing? Thanks.

The answer you are looking for is in the Q&A section. Dual and student = SIC time. PIC is only "signed for the aircraft PIC" … not "sole manipulator PIC"

I looked there, but somehow missed that, I guess. Thanks!

Ah- I think the Global Q&A section lacks that guideline, but the AA Q&A has it. Couldn't they make it any more complicated???

MarineGuardChef 02-06-2014 03:02 AM

I did their online interview Tuesday morning, I will let you know if I hear anything else from them.

HercDriver130 02-06-2014 03:46 AM

MGC...when did you "publish" your resume for them to review it....???

thanks

MarineGuardChef 02-06-2014 12:50 PM

I published my info back in October. I don't have any internal recs. All of my flight time is military.

727574drvr 06-04-2014 05:37 AM

OBAP???? I have been in the business for quite a bit of time, but not familiar with OBAP. Is it like QB's?

Here's a funny one. When the International rule about type ratings came out, I started getting an influx of new FO's (B727-200 a/c) who if I had not met or flown with them, seemed to want to tell me they were typed in the a/c. I was so taken a back, the only thing I could come up with was, "No ****, me too." I didn't even know airlines care how much dual some one has in relationship to PIC. If the count is that close, maybe move on to the next application
