Searching for JPATS in the title resulted in three previous threads. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/se...archid=3901676 If you are looking for the flying JPATS jobs - there was recently an announcement on USAJOBS.gov for 3 positions in the OKC area. The closing date was July 15th. Here is a link to the official website for some information and some contacts. http://www.usmarshals.gov/jpats/ |

Are you talking about being an actual US Deputy Marshal or are you asking about the interview process to FLY for the US Marshal's Service and the JPATS?

No - there has not been any more than what you have already found on the actual interview process that I remember from this forum. Did you check the other forum link that was found in the older threads?
Congrats on the interview! I have had my ear to the ground on that job as well in the past. I'd be very interested to hear what you have to say about the process and any other information that you may care to share after your interview. Of note - many moons ago - I actually did have a job interview to be a Deputy US Marshal. Before the interview date came I was selected for OCS and never actually went through with the interview. I wish I had. |
JPATS is all contract folks and contract birds. No actual US Marshals pilots fly these planes. Back in the day pre-JPATS they had some Sabres and other cool stuff. Those days are in the past.

We just had a Hawker 800 (old Flight check airplane) in our hangar and it was registered to the USMS. I'm pretty sure that MD-88 based out of OKC is a full time JPATS aircraft too. As far as the pilots - if by contract you mean gov't GS-13, 2181 series employees then yes - there are pilots that fall into that category. |

the Hawker indeed may be USMS owned then. and possibly flown by govt employees but I believe the USMS planes are flown by 1811 series deputies who are USMS deputies first, pilots second.

I won't say ALL because I don't know - but from the announcements that I have seen, and from the ones who were ASIPs and moved over to JPATS (quite some time ago), they are 2181 series.

USMS
Here's the posting from last month. I also got the impression that they strictly hired pilots. This isn't to say that some aren't USMS as well. I saw two MD-80s whilst in OKC last week and I heard the 737s are coming soon, as the contract for pilot training was awarded to HPA in DAL.
