If this helps...6200tt, 5200 turbine, 0 TPIC...interview at a major in 2 weeks...I don't know anyone high up just networked the crap out of myself, made business cards etc...maybe it paid off...have to pass the final interview

I have 1900TT, 1500 fixed, 1400 turbine. 650 TPIC. ATP with 3 Types: S-70, BE200, B737. I fly the 737 for the Navy Reserve (about 260hrs) and I cant get squat...the only gig I can get is skywest... so unless I get a call from someone by Dec Im taking a skywest CRJ class in January to build my resume...

Bluelion, PM me about the Navy reserve gig. I'm getting out and looking at a similar route. I'd love to hear some recent viewpoints about getting in with a VR squadron.

Plus, my recent ME rating and 1350 helo time out of 1550 won't look quite as desirable I'm sure.

bluelion - i know the frustration well, but hang in there. I took a job with Eagle this summer and just interviewed with United this week. Don't know if I was hired but it was promising after 18 months of not getting calls. I'm not a high time guy, 2200TT but almost all is PIC Multi-Engine Turbine in single-seat fighters with about 600 IP/SEFE time. At times it seems like a lottery system but you're doing the right thing. I also agree with Grumble, go to the job fairs and network as much as possible. If you do end up going to an RJ, you'll learn a lot about 121 ops and it will prepare you for your dream interview.

From what I have seen in the last 6 months I really don't believe there is any standard at all. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Most of the legacies now use a ridiculous 3rd party HR points system with accompanying 3rd party screeners.

Just when you think you have it figured out someone with far less qualifications gets the call and you are still waiting. Knowing people at your airline of choice helps but can also hurt you depending on their internal standing.

I think beyond the published minimums what's in your logbook has less to do than any HR factors. And who the hell knows what those are.

I've tried posting this inthe major section without much input but is there any chance getting hired with a major by building time at places like Omni, National, ATI, or North American?

Consider yourself very lucky.
I had over 10,000TT and plenty of PIC before my phone rang.

Yes I took that route and now starting at a legacy next week. My friends hired with me at XJET still haven't upgraded and probably won't for another 6 months...we were hired early 2007. I chose to leave the regionals and build time in a heavy, that absolutely sets you apart without much turbine PIC if you've been unlucky. Turbine PIC is not a requirement, there are ways to set yourself apart whether through networking or flying in a different capacity (non-sked). The problem with the non-sked world is the volatility and working conditions, if you're willing to put up with that and go have a good time, knock yourself out. Just don't get too comfortable.

Good luck!
