Default Update 2

Hey Guys and Gals

To continue the tale of the Goat...ANA continued to modify the flying of Ibex though 2020 as various "States of Emergency" were declared by the Japanese Government and the Boarders remained closed... End of Dec 2020 Ibex Management sent a email without any discussions stating they were imposing "New Terms and Conditions" and it was a "take it or leave" this is your 90 day notice... The cuts were pretty brutal, 53%-43% from our original contracts... Top cuts were those at 10 plus years with the lower on the first contact people... All accepted but most actively started looking for other work... 2021 saw ANA further reduce the Capacity Purchase program to 8 lines of flying and reduced the purchase price... Ibex decided to deploy their own branded flying with a line and a half to try and generate revenue... Sadly they did not do very good market research and they have bleed money on their own markets during 2021... Thru 2021 they continued to hire Japanese Captains... Most well past 60 years of age... Mandatory retirement in Japan is 68...

Default No Longer Needed...

Hi Guys and Gals

This should be a wrap for the Goat... 7 Jan 2022 Ibex management sent a email to all Japanese staff with the biz plan for 2022... Return to only Capacity Purchase with ANA and 8 lines of flying along with the sale of a aircraft... 12 Jan 2022 the remaining 8 TF/Expat Captains received a EMAIL informing them their contract would be Terminated effective 30 Apr 2022... Through out the down turn Ibex has continued to hire and train Japanese Captains and now has allowed the Sr.VP to keep his pledge to be rid of all the TF/Expats... The odd thing is with the last pay reductions, makes the Expats lower cost than the Japanese Captains...

Ibex started their TF/Expat program with TF-01 in Jan 2003, I joined with TF-14 in May 2009 and the last class was TF-29 Nov 2019... The "Big Boss" that was at the helm when I joined and until 2019 is a fine man and a Great leader... Current guy maybe not so much... We work in a small outfit, same base, same office for sign-on/off which is 10 meters for the VP's desk in a open office... However they send a email... You decide...

I enjoyed helping grow the airline from 4 CRJ1/2 to a fleet of 10 CRJ7... I know a lot of people will chuckle at that but for a Independent in Japan it has been tough to grow and staff in the past... Lots of good people both Expat and Japanese have come and gone... It has been fun to fly and live in Japan the past 12 plus year but like everything all good things must come to a close...

Best of luck to the Airline with staffing in the future if they survive... CRJ Drivers No longer wanted in Japan...

Thanks for the updates, always read them with interest. My daughter was attending university in Tokyo 2019-2020, was planning on all four years but, well you know. Hope you have a soft landing.

Another thank you for the updates.
Hope you a good spot, from one former Japan aviator to another.
