CFI/CFII, Phoenix (KCHD)

My old boss is looking for CFIs. Here's the low-down:

Busy part-141 flight school in the Phoenix metro is looking for flight instructors for their Cessna Pilot Center. They instruct in C152/172s, a Piper Arrow, and a Piper Seneca. The pay is pretty good compared to most CFI jobs in the Phoenix area.

He prefers former military pilots, but will consider any qualified applicant. PM me for details/contact info.

What do you mean military guy? Like actual ppl who can be applying with SWA, FDX, UPS? Or retired guys? Just kind of seems he is lil too picky

He's looking for former military guys who want to instruct, whether they're retired, do it on the side, or whatever. Not every former military guy can get out and jump into a 737 with SWA, or wants to for that matter. He is a little picky, but that's to make it easier on the instructor. With the owners and half the staff being former military, there is something to be said about fitting in.

Thats odd. What school are you speaking of at Chandler. Is it that one that has been sold like 5 diffrent times?

I don't think it's been sold that many times. The current owner has owned it for several years. The previous owner had it for many years before that.

Oh Im not bashing it. I was just trying to figure out. I think I used to take my writtens there.

Pan AM needs CFIs too, They start at $30,000/yr for the Korean Program.
Sabena at Goodyear needs CFIs they start at $35,000/yr.
Luftansia at Goodyear starts between $35,000 and $50,000 DOE with flight benefits.

Everyone needs CFIs now!

It seems that there might be a shortage of CFI's in the future. How want to instruct if you can get hired with only 500 tt with regionals. It seems that we are going to see a lot of flying jobs in the future.

Good Luck, guys

Yeah it's the same school that has been sold like 5 times. This dude is a former military guy and he thinks that if you work for him you need to be at the airport 12 hours a day regardless if you are getting paid or not. I never worked there but I have flown the porno seneca a few times. I know a couple of guys that worked there and quit, no former mil pilot will ever work there. If you want a CFI job go hit up Panam or Sabena!

Which regionals are hiring at 500 tt?

Not quite. You're there from 8-5...if you have to fly before then, you go fly, and if there's coverage, you can leave early.

Again, not quite. I'm a former military aviator, and I worked there. The chief instructor is a former military aviator. The chief pilot on the 135 side/DE is retired military. Oh yeah, the FAA POI is retired military too.

I attended Pan Am for a few FW ratings. Don't work there. The pay is horrible, the chief instructor is a tyrant dictator, and the school is extremely overpriced. All of my friends who instructed at Pan Am did so only for long enough to get the time to go to the first regional that called them back. I can't speak for Sabena. Tailwind starts $2/hr higher than Pan Am, with a $2.50 raise after 3 months.

So what qualifies you to speak about the place other than hearsay and poor judgement?

Lanesuzza 02-12-2007 06:32 AM

Pan Am pays CFIs (in the Korean Program) at $30,000/yr. salary with benefits.
The FAA and Chinese programs pay by hour of instruction given.

Good aircraft and TruFlight sims to instruct in.

We do have a new Chief CFI and things are beginning to move in a differant direction.
