Only threads seem to stop in 2012. Interested in hearing from those in the know: Are internal recommendations still a must? If hired, which bases are junior? Are most trips one day out and backs?

And are they planning on keeping the MD-80's forever?

Job fairs will probably help more than internal recommendations. The main reason is that most of the fairs are staffed with 1 or 2 of the chief pilots.

MD-80 will be here for a few more years. 75's are leaving 1st. As far as I know FL still seems to be junior for new hires but there are several bases opening this fall. AVL, CVG, PIT. Time will tell.

So are they looking for a new VP of flight ops and safety?

I'm old. Only place I could ever upgrade. And could do it fast.

Have you read any of the other forum about how bad it is there? Have you read how close they are to striking? Have you see how bad the pay and work rules are and how they are treated?

Is upgrade all that's important to you?

Everyone has different priorities, but really consider this...

Because pilots, for the most part, have no self respect.

Proven over and over and over...:(

So is Spirit, it may not be as fast, but I think you'll like it there much more.

^^ 2-3 year upgrade is pretty fast indeed ;)
