JetBlue Shakes Up Pilot Hiring by Training Them From Scratch - Bloomberg Business

What are your thoughts on this so called sponsored pilot training? Hasn't been approved yet, but I don't see it expanding into other airlines in the US.

Ill be interested to see how long it takes for a rich kid to get in the program, leave, and sue them.

Works well with Saudia. They have enough money to send their prodigies to ERAU and pay them $50,000 a year +.

Bad for guys who worked hard for this career and have a diverse resume. Any "0 hours to your first major airline job" program is bad for safety and will increase the captain's workload.

Has JetBlue ever explained why they are snubbing experienced pilots?

As it was posted on APC, I read the memo sent out by JetBlue HR (or whoever) that said essentially, "You may ask why we are not pursuing already qualified and experienced pilots" then went on to NOT answer that very question.

End run around ALPA coming on board? Get them drinking the kool-aid from day one.

It's also likely that they are wanting to avoid having their new-hires stick around for just a few years then move on to a legacy.

Default Jet Blue Training

What pass/fail rate will be acceptable to JB? FAA? Will they ever earn the privilege to be called "Pilots"?
Bad idea. Will never enhance safety.
