Horizon Air base question.
Anyone have information with regard to being based at GEG for Horizon Air, specifically do you get back to base most nights for a respectable home life....?

That'll vary a lot depending on seniority and how the trips are constructed within a given bid.
On reserve, you'll probably fly every day you're available (and you'll likely be on the road for the entire block of reserve), so a typical reserve schedule is something like 3-4 days on, followed by 2-4 off, although you can end up with six day blocks of reserve during bid transitions. Lineholders get more days off (somewhere between 12-15), and trips can be anything from day trips to four days (the exact breakdown varies bid to bid), with 4 or 5 day blocks made of back-to-back 2 or 3 day trips being fairly common. This is all using our current line bidding system, and will probably change substantially once we're forced into PBS in May. |

Most junior GEG FO is 8/1/16, and the most junior line holder is 11/16/15 So if you were hired today on the Q400 you can expect at least 5-6 months of commuting to reserve to MFR or BOI, and once you get to Spokane you would be on reserve there for over a year. Because we're so short on FOs you would be used every single day, 11 days off is all you get, but since you're gonna have to commute at least 4 times per bid you can bring that number down to 7 days off per month. The other option is to wait for the E175, get in the first new hire class and be a senior line holder with weekends off in SEA flying the best schedule imaginable. Or just go somewhere else. |
