Seatac parking

Does anyone know how employee parking at Seatac works? Does Horizon take care of this? Thanks

QX will pay for parking at one location. Not necessarily where you're based, but it needs to be a QX base.

(I had them pay for PDX while I was based in MFR. While I was SEA based, I had them pay for it. Whichever was most $$$.)

Gotcha, thanks

They actually pay you to deal with your own parking? It's not just an employee parking pass or whatever?

That's poorly phrased; how about this:
QX will pay for your parking at one base. If you live in base, great, end of story. If you commute from another QX base to your base, (say you live in SEA and are awarded BOI), you get to pick which one they pay for. If you commute from a non-QX location, say SMF to SEA, they'll cover SEA.
There is no such thing as "free" employee parking.
Somebody has to pay, it's just a discounted rate.
(And they don't pay you anything, they pay the airport authority directly.)

In other words, a junior FO really doesn't want to live outside of Horizon's domiciles, it sounds like.

It's an employee pass that they pay for. The only responsibility the pilot has is to go to the parking badging office in the parking garage, fill out a form, and pick up the pass. That's a one-time procedure. After that, it's maintenance-free.

Parking pass or ORCA card?

If you decide you don't need a parking pass and will be using public transit, does QX pay for a transit pass instead?

I looked into this a few months ago. If I recall correctly, Horizon will give you a credit (subsidy) for using public transit. It's $35 per month for Portland and $75 per month for Seattle. The program is administered through WageWorks on our web site. The subsidy is applied to a transit pass, up to a maximum of $300. You have to give up your parking pass to get the public transit pass.

Parking seatac

Now that this thread has been totally derailed, where is the best place for commuters to park these days? Any employee deals at hotels or long term lots? Thanks
