Ipads
 

Hello,

As a newb waiting for a class date I’ve noticed my iPad starting to show its age. I’m considering buying a replacement but was wondering how much personal use the co issued iPads are good for. Do they allow you to have personal apps? Personal email? Block certain websites? At least let you use your own foreflight subscription on it for some ga flying?

You will be issued your own ipad which you are free to use for whatever you want, just keep in mind IT can track your internet usage and what sites you go to.

Does it have LTE for on the road? Or WiFi only? Pesky IT always ruins all the fun...

LTE. We need to be able to download our releases. And it seems to work everywhere but EUG.

Also has the built in GPS

I was told they allocate 2GB for each pilot. We can go over that but if you use much more than that I’m not sure if they have a means to track it down and slap you on the wrist for it. So maybe don’t stream on data all the time. If I’m wrong someone feel free to correct me.

Other than that, I use it for all my personal apps. Love it.

If you stream Netflix all day on it you will get a call from the CP asking you stop doing that so much and to use wifi.

Why you would want to do anything personal on a company issued iPad is beyond me.
My one exception is using the Jepp charts when I’m flying GA, otherwise it’s company related or it’s turned off.
