According to our management, Horizon plans to hire just over a hundred pilots this year. There are several years worth of pilots in the "pool". I suspect that many of these pilots are either (1) not yet fully qualified (i.e., they are in the Pilot Development Program), or (2) have applied to numerous companies and will take the first job that opens up.
There's a lot of good people here, so if you have even the slightest interest of working here, then apply. Hiring may be slow now, but I expect very robust pilot hiring in 2022 and 2023 as business picks up.

just need them to open up hiring again. Horizon is ideal due to its bases.

This is a hard question to answer, as it will certainly be different in a year or two. However... There's a small Q400 upgrade class starting in June. People in this class have 3-4 years seniority. I don't think there are any jet upgrade classes scheduled.

Pilots moving on to DL, UAL, etc is all about individual effort and networking. Working for Horizon won't hold you back from moving on to any airline if you make it a goal and take the necessary steps to achieve it. If you're not at your career destination don't allow yourself to get comfortable.

Horizon Pilot Development Program
Does anybody have experience with Horizon's Pilot Development Program? How active is the mentoring etc? Is there an in person get together at HQ like OO has for their cadets? Obviously things are different now than they were pre-Covid. Would just love to know what one could expect if they were accepted into the program. Thanks in advance.
