Horizon Air
I am familiar with many of the regionals in the eastern half of the country, but I'd like to head out west. I've done a lot of research on a lot of companies and one of my interests is Horizon Air. I have already read the rather lengthy discussions about this company on this board and have found that all very helpful (and entertaining!) :)
I don't want to rehash the conversations about whether it's a good company or not.. I just want to collect some more info on their hiring. From those that have the info, what's going on with their hiring now? What minimums are they actually hiring at? What aircraft and bases are they hiring into? Would a pilot with 2500TT, 250ME, and an A&P stand a chance at all? Any information would be outstanding! |
My old CFI has been with them for 5 years now. an FO for the Dash 8-200 out of Seattle. I've been keeping in touch with him since he will be walking my resume in here in another month. From what I know, Portland is the junior base but the last few guys that went there got Seattle since that's what they requested. Also from what I heard they like experience, single pilot IFR, 135 stuff.

I get to fly into the Pacific Northwest a fair amount, and I'm always envious of the guys that get to do it all the time and live there. Very Scenic.

Besides, one of the good things about this job is flying to nice sunny destinations for overnights. |

New hire classes will apparently continue through the end of the year, probably one class of 8-14 per 5-week bid. The minimums vary with type of experience. CFI only will require more time; 121 experience gets you in with less time. Hiring is into all a/c and bases, so your "choices" are PDX, SEA, DEN, with DEN being RJ only, PDX being all three a/c, and SEA being 200 (and soon to be 400). You are assigned an a/c prior to starting training (I have heard of folks asking for and receiving a different a/c, but it is rare) and you are assigned a base during training. Right now, the RJ bases are about equal seniority for FO's. PDX is junior for 200 FO's. Not clear once the 400 base in SEA opens what the seniority will be. I would think 2500TT/250 ME would be extremely competitive. |
Horizon Online Application
How long has Horizon had the Online Application up and operational? I mailed and faxed a resume to them about a month ago. I did so because I was unable to find an online application at the time. I was browsing the site today and came across the app after following the same series of hyperlinks I used last month. Is the online app new to the site? Or was I just missing it altogether last month?

Hello , my name is Glenn. new to this site. I am humbly seeking some answers to questions I have about the CRJ -200. I'm really only a Simmer, but am very into it, and added an incredible CRJ version into MSFS '04. it has working Collins FMS, EICAS and is quite detailed in it's modeling. anyway, I have learned a lot from this program, but have more questions about some things with the FMS. any help anyone? thanks, Glenn::cool:
