Horizon CRJ??

was on a night flight with a student on tuesday and went into PDX, did a touch and go on 28R and on the go happened to look down and see a Horizon Air CRJ 7 or 9. Couldn't quite tell but definitely not a 200. Was parked there alongside a bunch of dash 8's on the ramp east of the terminal. has anyone seen a Horizon CRJ? i thought they got rid of them years ago and went to an all Dash fleet and haven't seen one in forever.

It's skywest. We aren't getting jets back anytime soon.

pete2800 07-30-2015 06:44 PM

What he said.

It's SkyWest in Alaska paint. There are a growing number of them.

Poor horizon is about to get Envoy-ed but without new planes and without any flow

csucbrown 07-30-2015 07:05 PM

Pretty much. I wouldn't recommend anyone coming here right now.

Skywest is replacing 9 CRJ700s with 15 E-175s for Alaska.

Tippy 07-30-2015 07:27 PM

so skywest has been flying CRJs for alaska in recent years? just haven't seen one in a long time.

The CR2 are used occasionally in the Alaska system when a cr7 goes in for mx for a check. Skywest uses the generic "Skywest" CR2s for those.

Well a non union bottom feeder like skw will get its turn to suffer eventually.

So, one of the highest compisated, no problems attracting pilots, best bases (if your from the west) is a bottom feeder. Just because they dont have to pay union dues....???... Lame comment. And SkyWest did suffer a few years back. But they offered time off no pay instead of laying pilots off!!! Hmmm

His comment is all sour grapes and no fact at all. Just let it go. It's human nature to blame those who have no control over something you feel has hurt you. Didn't you know that Skywest pilot's made the decision for Horizon to fly props only?

OnMyWay 07-31-2015 08:41 AM

That didn't take long.

DashTrash 07-31-2015 08:49 AM

As a former QXer who was there at that time, I completely understand the fact that the decision to have SKW do CPA flying for AAG was made by AAG. A lot of the disappointment felt by my former co-workers is misplaced. The angst should be directed toward AAG. Horizon Management really had nothing to do with that decision.
