Your failure and short-sightedness are apparent and just because you do not have control over it and decide to sue the company makes the union look stupid!!! I understand CBA's and there is nothing in the CBA that says you can not offer additional compensation. Is the bonus fair to other pilots, the answer is no. Pilots have ask not only is this contract good for me but ask is it also good for the profession as a whole. For the record, I for not work for Horizon and I wish everyone there the best of luck,
You clearly have a lack of understanding of what's going on. Time and time again we told the company (over 2 years) we were going to have a staffing crisis. Company responds everything is fine, F off. When we are negotiating our concessionary contract we bring it up again, the time to adjust new hire pay is now. Company responds everything is fine, F off. We finally reach the tipping point where we start cancelling flights left and right for lack of FOs, company responds OH SH*T we need to change things RIGHT NOW, give us complete 100% control of new hire pay so we can change it whenever we want however we please, in return we will give you nothing. Naturally we voted down such an absurd request, to protect new hires from having their pay changed over and over again.

Then the company decides to throw our contract out the window, in response to a problem they knew was coming years in advance. Every problem at this company has been the result of short sighted, reactive management. They have no foresight, nor do they understand the importance of being pro active. This pilot group refuses to be the shock absorber for their gross incompetence and negligence.

Read the thread and get some more background information before you make yourself look ignorant.

Alaska CEO Brad Tilden just sold $25m worth of stock, looks like he expects it to go down soon.

It's much higher now because we will hire literally anyone right now. A lot of guys in class right now have zero actual IMC experience and very little multi time. They even hired a guy who just rented a plane and flew it around for 1500 hours, and Horizon was to be his first aviation job. Didn't make it.

I found this interesting based on what I have read about the bonus being given out. From my understanding they were giving out the new hire bonuses upon day 1 of indoc correct? If I am wrong please correct me. But I talked to an individual the other day that stated he has already accepted the 10k and is using it to help finish out his CFI training. He clearly knows everything that is going on based on some info that was put out there in regards to the whole QX ordeal. He stated he could justify taking the cash to use for his training and bc QX was his #1 regardless of whats going on even though he was aware it was going against you guys in the pilot group. Thought that was interesting that he had already received the money considering all of the bonuses I thought were being handed out upon arrival of training. Like I said please clarify if I may have got some of that wrong.

It could be the $7500 school bonus Horizon is giving out. Students can get that bonus by committing to Horizon when they reach their R-ATP mins.

Is 13 new hires a month more than the attrition rate is right now for FO's? Seems to be a low number

So a $7500 "school bonus" and a $10k hiring bonus?
