For Horizon to have gotten so many new hires in their March class into the Q400, given all the recent poor history here, and all the better options for a new hire in the regional industry, it would not be a stretch that Horizon management has increased the Pre-Employment bonus above $10,000, to some secret amount, maybe $20,000 is what's being floated around at the puzzle palace, and required the new hires to sign a Non-disclosure Agreement about the further payment.

Okay, so scrap the secret bonus Theory... perhaps another one though...
Maybe another potential theory is that Horizon has started a DUI waiver program. Similar to the military where they had drug waivers when they couldn't get enough people to go into the infantry and fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. Perhaps they've realized there's enough pilots out there with DUIs that want to fly with an Eskimo on it and SkyWest won't hire them, so there's a market opportunity to get pilots. How about that theory?

Something is going to happen soon, within the next month or so, because air group needs every plane possible for the looming summer and to have to park airplanes would be embarrassing for them.

Which is why I thought it interesting that they would send a bunch of FOs to upgrade right before summer hits.

^^This. I'm amazed with some of the choices being made by otherwise decent folks.

Take a bolt with eight nuts on it. It's easy to take everything apart....just spin the nuts off one by one. Hope you took note of which nut was where though. If you didn't, you have a one in 40,000 chance of putting everything back in the proper sequence.
I believe the air group was wreckless in disassembling the last contract. It's painful to watch them try to put everything back together again with these shiny jets and silly bonuses.

Management also mentioned in our last pilot chat there will be continuous upgrades throughout summer for jet deliveries, of course it all depends on the new hires. Usually we never upgrade anyone during summer.
