Today is (I believe) the first full day of flying after the schedule cutbacks that were supposed to help reduce cancellations.
As of 3PM in PDX, we're up to 42 flights cancelled for lack of crews, so that plan might need some more work.

Supposedly we've been filling classes since some point in June, which should help.
That said, we don't know how many of the people that start class here are actually going to make it to flying the line, and we probably won't start seeing any of those people finishing training before some time this month.

I hope a real plan get developed soon for you all to survive and thrive.
I found it rediculous when I read one of the media articles recently it said (and Im paraphrasing) "Horizon is reducing flights and Alaska and Skywest are filling the gaps until November when two classss of new hires will be trained."
By November two classes worth of pilots will be hired by the majors.
A longer term plan must be in the works. I dont see ANY regional pilot group growing substantially in this enviroment.

Looks like we're getting about 10 per class which meets the goal, but it takes an average 100 days to make an FO here now and that's assuming more than 50% make it through training. Add attrition and laterals and the progress will be very slow.
Throwing bonus money at the problem will get a few more bodies in the door but won't make an impactful difference like a true flow would.
The dash upgrade went down 1 year 7 months, however FOs are getting bypassed because they haven't flown 1000 hours yet. We're about to have a captain shortage too.

This is a bit disturbing. It means that even if a flow happened tomorrow, it wouldn't solve the problem. You can't generate seniority list movement if you can't upgrade people...

Part me of me thinks a lot of FOs are seeing how junior the jet has gone and are now trying their luck at bypassing even if they're eligible for the dash. There seems to be a bubble right now of FOs who were hired in early-mid 2016 who sat reserve and didn't fly much and are a couple hundred hours short.
