As an outside observer, for an airline that is pretty nice from a passenger perspective, I can't believe how shady QX management seems to be. The pilots are doing their jobs safely operating the aircraft, and twice gave the company what they said they needed to compete. It's still been an epic failure, and there is no other answer than poor management.

TWA was raped by Carl Icahn, that's what killed TWA. PAN AM did die from lack of domestic feed, but Alaska isn't wanting for feed, there are several carriers that could fill the need quickly and easily. Their problem is that they have a wholey owned feeder that is failing miserably, dragging down their brand. Replacing that carrier is an obvious fix. The only question is how much patience do they have and how long will it take to turn Horizon around. Is it worth the effort?

Ok guys, I gotta step in here. Jonneaux, emotions are obviously running high as we are dealing with people's livelihoods here.....no reason to stoke the fire. You have valid points, don't get me wrong. Yogipilot, take a deep breathe, relax, and put the beer down. That is all.

Southwest would own Alaska but they (AS) have insulated themselves a huge amount with the support of QX if Alaska goes without QX AS can kiss California good bye and a stronger SWA will evolve as they have a much smarter evolving mgmt arrongance is a dangerous thing in business i.e. Pan Am, TWA. Kill QX and AS loses all control over feed. Delta simply calls in theirs cards and ask Skywest for all resources. =game over. Give approachs in alaska to another airline outside of airgroup and they become public hence Delta destroys the AS bread and butter in the state of ALK need more reasons?

Joneaux You're really good at making things sound worse than they really are. Thank god for forums.... lmao I can see you rubbing your hands together waiting to see Horizon collapse and mighty mainline SkyWest running in to save the day for Alaska Airlines. Honestly yeah things aren't all that great here but people blow this crap way out of proportion some times, I'm sure once the backed up training department can get back to where they need to be and pilots can finally get out on the line we won't have as many issues and we'll be back in a decent spot working our way back up. Horizon really is a great airline and when I say this, it does not include management whatsoever. Horizon has the coolest pilot group and crew environments especially for the flying we do, I have no doubt we'll eventually be back on track and I'm sure Alaska knows that too otherwise I'm sure we would have been dumped off by now, plus I'm trying to be optimistic about our new VP of flight ops from Alaska coming in, hoping he might make a change for the better but I guess we'll see what happens, he seemed pretty serious about taking care of the training department and speeding up new hire to line pilot in shorter amount of time with little to no delays so assuming he can deal with this issue and earn our trust, I think we will be on the right track to recovery. Obviously this is all new to us so we have to see but I'm still very optimistic.

Well, he's only been here for about two weeks and earned his first IBT lawsuit...That's impressive, even for Brad standards.
