What's happening at Horizon and Jets?

Fixed it for you. SkyWest flies nothing but jets and has been for about 25 years.
Cancels were due to weather and a damaged aircraft. With as much flying as we are covering for Horizon there is no slack in the schedules. If an aircraft diverts the next flight might have to be cancelled.
On mornings like yesterday, Horizon has an advantage being CAT3 to our CAT2. Kudos to you for that. Wish we were.

I saw that QX has been covering for OO now because of constant MX issues with your birds, and the weather in which is returning to the Northwest soon, will be interesting to see how many flights you guys continue to cancel this winter when you aren't RNP/CAT3 and can't get into Wenatchee, sun valley, mammoth, Medford, Spokane, Lewiston/Pullman, etc
This is interesting for sure to see because I can't tell you how many times now someone from Skywest will tell me they don't need CAT3 or RNP to fly in the NW and they never have once seen CAT3 weather here yet we're on day two now of OO flying QX flights and we have tons of cancels due to weather... hmmm clearly y'all don't fly in the NW as much as you think you do and at the same frequency. I get it, you guys fly allover the country and the need for that equipment might not be necessary but to say that this kind of bad weather rarely happens is such a lie.
Oh, and I'm sure Alaska is loving the OO cancels, sure making the Alaska brand look great! You're making us look even better

So what your saying is skywest is unreliable in the northwest, got it.

How long have you been flying in the NW? OO management is very keen on the cost/benefit of adding CATIII capability. There is a reason we took the HUDs out of the birds that we got from QX. It doesn't pencil for us. Yes there are days where we will have cancellations because of it but they are few and far between.
Been flying in the NW for quite a while now actually and I can tell you that this year alone, last winter especially we would have not been able to get into many of the places we fly daily if it weren't for RNP getting us down to near ILS mins in sun valley, or Wenatchee or Medford etc I can go on all day. You guys just started covering our flying and doing some of our hellish turns and now that you're actually flying only in the NW and the weather hits you guys are down. Sure you've got bases in the NW but I'm sure I always see you guys flying down to Burbank, LA, Fresno etc places that don't run into these issues as much as when you're doing turns all day exclusively in the Northwest. By no means am I trying to make the Northwest sound like flying in the state of Alaska but to say this weather never happens is not true. Last winter alone in one day we shot 3 actual CAT3's down to mins in Spokane, Boise and Seattle. Then we got the pleasure of flying into Sun Valley while it was dumping snow with low ceilings and I can tell you that if we didn't have RNP to get us down to 255 feet compared to the RNAV mins of 1800 feet, yeah we would never get in anywhere that we fly. If you guys start covering Sun valley this winter or any of the few listed places I mentioned and the weather goes south, which it usually does then you'll see why we use this equipment on a daily basis and it makes sense for us cost wise as well.

Honestly I think you guys can afford way more cancelations than we can due to the size of Skywest, so that might also factor into the cost savings of not having the equipment for it.

I wish we would get CAT 3.
The weather cancels don’t actually count against us (or anyone) as they are considered uncontrollable. The decision to cancel a flight due to a weather delay come down from AAG.

Had I intended to say what you claim I intended, I would simply have said that SkyWest has been an all jet carrier for about 25 years. No need for the compound sentence.
Now go back and re-read it.
Clear enough for you now?
