What's happening at Horizon and Jets?

I believe that's correct. Training pay until you're signed off IOE, and then you have 48 hours to build yourself a line up to min guarantee in ecrew, if you don't scheduling will do it for you.
As far as schedules go for the above poster, as a newly minted FO on reserve you can expect to be used every day of your RAP (reserve availability period).
Pro tip: If your rap is 5 days long and you're assigned a 2 day trip...It would be wise to pack for 5 days. Ask me how I know.

Hmmm... looks just like my roller bag! Seriously, packing for six days of reserve in the winter can be a little bit of a challenge. As a reserve pilot, I quickly identified all the hotels in our system with guest laundry machines (or in close proximity to a laundromat.) You know that roll of quarters you used to carry around as a freight pilot? So you could get "lunch" out of the vending machine? Save 'em for for your emergency laundry needs while you're on reserve.
The good news is, most of the new FO's aren't on reserve for very long. At most bases, you won't spend more than 3-6 months on reserve.

Commuting from the Bay Area
Does anyone commute out of the SFO area? I'm considering putting in my application but I'm not sure if it's realistically feasible. I'm not able to move because of family obligations. Also what domicile / equipment would you recommend? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I commuted SMF-PDX for 2 years. Easy. Not sure how big your “area” is, but that’s a great option. Otherwise, there are quite a few commuters from the PDX and SEA areas for United since they used to have a SEA base, but I can’t speak to how those commutes are.
