3 FOs upgraded into the jet but they are all senior. Most junior one of those three is 3+ year seniority. There's about 10 jet captains who are very junior (1.3-1.5 years seniority) who were able to get it during an opportunistic time window. They will be reserve for the rest of their careers at horizon though.

Upgrade/transition is the same thing for the jet. There's no restrictions, if your seniority can hold it you will get it if you're not seatlocked.

Thats kind of what I was noticing. I plan on sticking with the Q and maybe putting in for upgrade in a few months.

As long as you can handle MFR for a while.

Yep, I can. I was commuting ANC-PDX for a while at my last job. So I can totally live with MFR.

Hahaha yep. And that was for ten days off per month if I was lucky. It is amazing how much of a step up Horizon feels like.

I’ve been warned not to upgrade into the Q at virtually any cost. I’ve literally been advised to quit QX if they try to force me into a Q upgrade. I guess I’ll wait for the jet when the time comes.

Any reason why? Seems like as the senior guys move over to the jet the upgrade times are gonna go pretty high. Or the senior guys are gonna wait it out until the end of the Q.

I would see how it goes as more jets come on property.

That's going to be a very long time for anyone hired within the last year.. and non existent if a jet PDX base opens.

The company won't force you into the Q400. There's nothing wrong with waiting for the jet, if that's what you want. As Snacky points out, the upgrade time for the jet is likely to go higher, especially if the company opens Portland as a jet base.
