We have 26 ERJs. I know cuz I've flown all them. #27 scheduled to arrive in May.

Our current Ops Specs shows 43 Qs and 26 ERJs. Several months back, we had around 870 pilots. Normal attrition plus recent pathway folks appear to fuel the declining pilot count.

We seem to be short on ERJ captains, at least in SEA. On any given day, the SEA reserve list can confirm this. I routinely see only 4 to 6 captains on reserve. Sometimes just 1 or 2. Last several months, I get calls on my days off from scheduling at least 3 times per month to pick up trips. Granted, I'm a more junior ERJ CA so I'm one of first to get called. But we're definitely fat on ERJ FOs.

Sorry, that WAS an estimate. I'm pretty sure about the number of jets, but the number of Q400's seems to be a moving target. At any given time, we have Q400's at the paint shop, down for heavy maintenance, or parked while awaiting a new home.

A quick look for Monday shows 26 E’s and 29 Q’s flying the line. That’s a total off 55. Being we typically have 2-3 Q spares and. Similar number in heavy MTX puts us at the 60-62 aircraft fleet.
My bigger point is we are very overstaffed. Why? AAG is focused on never having another QX flight cancelled because of lack of crews. This is why we have so many reserve lines. Only so much scheduled flying to go around. We have to have a large slush of pilots to account for a large amount of unpredictable attrition.

Where do you find the info for the class composition (DOHs for initial upgrades, transitions, etc...?). I'm all over FLICA and can't figure it out.

I mean, other than where it says "May Vacancy Bid: No Award" on my own page.

Its a two step process. On FLICA go to view bid award. You can view what each pilot in each base got awarded. From there you pull up the seniority list on the iPad to figure out DOH.

From the pilot chat today apparently the Q400 is staffed for the rest of the year.

If there is no hiring planned for the Q then that would mean they are planning to reduce Q flying. If they were planning on keeping the Q flying as much as it currently is then they would at least hire enough to cover attrition right?

Was anything else said about that?

They said they were expecting higher attrition that did not occur and are thus overstaffed. I would agree since half of PDX is on reserve. Also said they have not turned down any additional flying.

10 upgrade vacancies for the Q400 in June, 8 for the jet.
