What's happening at Horizon and Jets?

I think the signing bonus is $3k (before taxes), and I think someone at the road show I attended said the bonus is paid the first paycheck after Jan 31.
The 8 year duration probably isn't as big a deal as some people are making it out to be, since our last three contracts have all ended up being re-negotiated well before they expire, and with how fast things are changing for the regionals, I'd be surprised if Air Group didn't try and amend this one before we get anywhere near 2024.

Given how readily willing your pilot group is to take concessions in a time of record profits for nothing, I'm not sure why an 8 year contract is a bad thing either. I mean how do you seriously ask for gains in the future when you just took this thing? There's no leverage anymore, Alaska got what they wanted out of the TA. Line bidding ain't coming back. Probably best to stay on this contract for awhile because if you're Alaska you're stupid not to demand concessions in the next one too, the pilots already proved they'd fall for it. It's a sad day for the industry.
"We have to vote yes and get the jets now and then we can have leverage later!" IDIOTS.

What's even more sad are the yes voters who aren't planning on leaving. This thing is full of holes. Plenty of opportunities here for the company to have their cake and eat it too.
This TA did not "secure Horizon's future" or "return jets to Horizon." They just sold all bargaining rights for the next eight years and gave them a concessionary contract the company can now implement on their terms.
The company can still farm out 14 airplanes before they need to abide but the "job protection" components of this agreement which gives us plenty of time to shrink. Meanwhile, they will tell us about how the jets are still coming so they can implement the TA, but that buys them time to place orders and dangle the carrot while we see Q400's expire.

Or agree to be paid "historical credit" per leg that the company makes up instead of marketing block pay the rest of the industry recognizes? Or have a PBS system that doesn't abide by seniority and globalizes for company need? Or have a pilot association that is paid for by the company to work for the company?
Because ya, that would be real stupid!
