Not sure why you have a hang up with that.

My understanding is that they're being parked in PDX as "operational spares", which is probably how management will spin the issue if they ever decide to address it.

Had two guys over 50 and one in his late 40s in my initial ALK class. Three completely different backgrounds as well and no bitterness. Take it for what it's worth.
Maybe management should have embarked on more long term staffing analysis before throwing a garbage concession filled contract at the pilots last year under the guise of being the only way they would get jets and ultimately survive. Sad to see what is happening to this once proud and unique airline.

Wow, lots of unhappy campers at Horizon? Lots of negativity on here. I got hired by Compass but my training date was canceled because Delta took back 6 jets. So now I'm looking elsewhere. If anyone that knows wouldn't mind.....where are new hires at Horizon getting based?

This whole situation broadly reads like what happened when Republic began to fall apart. One big difference being that Republic is publicly traded with upset shareholders that might have influenced internal changes. There probably isn't an external pressure like that with Horizon, correct?
I think it's safe to say that most prospective pilots these days at least lurk this forum before they choose who they'll work for. If you're seeing an airline that has a nearly 100 page thread solely dedicated about how poorly they've been treating their pilots and openly plan to continue doing so, you're looking at airline that's running on borrowed time and they don't even know it yet.
