Somewhere between 75-90 if you're used on the regular as reserve.

Reserves can't pick up anything because it's almost guaranteed to conflict with your rest requirements.

I'm in the Q400, got just over 90 credit hours in June. I don't expect to work quite as much in July, but it should come to 75 hours or thereabouts.

Most of the jet captains aren't working that much, some only 20-30 hours a month. The exception seems to be the check airmen and instructors, who are working their tails off. Note regular lines in the jet have a min guarantee of 75 hours.

Default Jets vs. Q400

There is a huge difference between the jets and the q400 in terms of reserve usage. I just got a line last month (9 months with the company), and I NEVER got called out on long call reserve. I got one callout on short call. This will likely continue for the near future, because we are staffing the jet for the 26 aircraft we expect to have by December (we have 15ish now). Bottom line, if you want to fly a lot in the near future, you'll want the Q400.

As to picking up trips, the ERJ pilots have some options. Because there's so little usage on reserve, I've been able to pick up about 30 hours a month for a while. Otherwise, I would've flown about zero hours (some of my classmates have to go back to the sim for currency).

Well that was a disappointing ruling.

Yep. Saw it coming. I'm sure Alaska bought and paid for that ruling too.

Yep. Totally agree. Especially with some of the emails as evidence.

This should be a wakeup call for Horizon pilots as well as every other pilot in the industry covered by the RLA. Follow the money. Congress wrote the RLA(who lobbies congress). Corporations lobby the Presidents that appoint these judges.
As a pilot the RLA is not your friend. Congress set the bar high so as to protect corporations and hinder unions.

Can you share the details of this ruling?

In short, despite overwhelming evidence the company intentionally violated our (concessionary) contract by giving Skywest our jets, a federal judge ruled that our lawsuit will be resolved through arbitration rather than continuing in the judicial system. A huge win for Alaska.
