Default Question about Passport Renewal NY

Any fellow JetBlue Pilots renew a passport in the NYC/Long Island Area? Coming up on the 6 months to renewal and just want to get some ideas. Seems if I want the same day renewal it's gonna be a day trip to Manhattan. Not sure where is the best place as there are a few, some which have some scary Yelp Reviews. I have no international trips in August but I don't think I want to send it out for 2 weeks. Thx!

Its been a while but I went to the main post office in Manhattan. Its about a block from Penn Station, so if youre coming from the LIRR, its just a few steps. The A C and E trains go by there too. It was pretty painless. And yes. I had mine expedited there.

Quickest way is make an appointment at the Passport Office. Show up with current passport, application, airline ID, a letter from jetBlue saying you're crew and need expediting and a copy of your schedule.

While it's not a day in the park, it's fairly painless and gets you into the building while others wait outside. You then see an agent who reviews all your info and paperwork then sends you upstairs where you submit those and are told when to come back either that day (min. 3 hour or so wait) or return the next day. I chose the former and the whole process was approximately 4 hours.

Good luck!

I'm also at B6. IMMEDIATELY after getting the new passport send photo to chief pilots office so it can be updated in CASS. I forgot. While in LGA tried to jumpseat home on SWA (always asks for passport) and was denied. Although I had the brand new passport in hand it didn't match what was in CASS. No match no jumpseat. Full flights, only seat was in cockpit. Denied. Related note - I got mine at passport office in Dallas in 6 hrs. JB pays for the expedited but denied the passport card. Thought it was a good backup so I got it and the expense was denied.

Default Question about Passport Renewal NY

CASS Is based off your airline ID photo and not your PP photo. You got denied because your new PP info wasn't in CASS. It has nothing to do with the photo though.

That's what I was saying. The photo was in lieu of a photocopy. CP office will not put it in system without copy of PP. Correct, PP number didn't match. Rereading it, I realized it was confusing the way I said it.

Anyone else within 3 months get it done...most airlines require it if you wanna travel to AMS like what just happened to me.

1.So the Maria's will require you to make appointment. (They will give you the number) You can't make an appointment more than two weeks out.
2.After the appointment is made let them know and then they will send you a letter immediately.
3. Show up to appointment at our nations humanitarian disaster we call the NY Passport information center. There you will see the real America.(bring ear plugs/headset...its worse than a NYC MCO commute in June)You can show up as early as you want. Mine was 2pm...I was there at 10am. Tell them you have all your info and show them the letter. I didn't even have time to fill out the paper work. I was in and out of there in 15 min after I got a number.
4. Took like two hours for them to process the info and make me a new one.
5.Go home and take shower
6.Fill out a concur expense report 170$

Good information! However I feel like I'm in a catch 22. My passport expires in February but want to get it done in August(due to vacation in the fall and the 6 month till expiration thing). Although some people seem to have had success by going down there cold with the airline ID, I'd like to try to make an appointment. However, in order to make the appointment you need international travel within 2weeks. I actually don't have any international trips in August. And, CP office will only write the letter if you have an appointment. So what to do? Make up a date? Do they request where you are going?
