You are better off staying at a regional and waiting for the call from a Major. JetBlue is run by NYC hipsters that have no business running an airline. I regret leaving my regional and after 3 years I am still in the red income wise.

I commute from AUS to JFK for Endeavor. It’s a long flight but the frequency usually means you’re not waiting around for a flight home very long. The late B6 flight (2115-30ish) is a life saver too.

I’m in the same boat. I find living in the area to be well worth the commute. If Via Air was around a few years ago I might have chosen differently.

Also if you read into some of the rumors/news there’s a possibility of an AUS domicile for a couple carriers in the near/mid future...

I believe Allegiant will have an AUS base sometime this year. We just built a new terminal on the south side for us (mostly). The company has been talking about AUS base the last couple years. Things are a bit hectic as we transition to all Airbus this year, but it’s going to be announced sooner than later I suspect.

That’d be pretty amazing. Wonder if it’ll be senior.

That terminal has been there for YEARS. It was built for a Mexican low cost carrier that scaled back when fuel prices hit the roof.
On another note, commuting anywhere sucks. To and from AUS is a looong flight with poorly timed and inadequate frequency.

Bumping this thread for some info on any JB Texas commuters. Considering JB with the Spirit takeover and possibility of the Texas market. However, I don’t want to commute to the east coast for an extended period of time. Anyone here a Texas commuter (or nearby state)? I heard positive space commuting is set to expire soon..

I commute from Austin. Have been doing the commute for almost 20 years from AUS to JFK. Its not bad. Its not great but it is not nearly as bad as it can be. We have 2 on JB, 2 on Delta and 2 on AA. I have only been bumped a few times in that long. Right now its all on the Airbus 320 which makes it easy. We use to swap to a 190 on occasion which made the commute a challenge. Other than the flight being long, 3-3.5 hours going and 3.5 to 4 going home, it's very doable if you have the patience.

Man, times have changed. I left my "good" regional as a 10 year CA making $60K six years ago.
