Mediator, not arbitrator. Big difference. I am glad to hear you agree with me about secrecy not being required. We need to accept the fact that the NMB works for big business. Its sole purpose is now to keep us from striking. So honestly, who cares what the mediator thinks? He is effectively the enemy.
We need to adjust our tactics knowing self help is highly unlikely under even the most egregious contracts *cough* spirit *cough*.
Public negotiations. We could plaster their lowball offers all over picket signs. It would cause labor unrest. It might effect staffing. All the tools we have left under the RLA.

The mediator was an ALPA member and committee chairman at Northwest ALPA!
I get that this is your first contract cycle and it's confusing, but check your anger with some facts, dude.

You can say things like "Jetblue wants its pilots to fly across the country without food. Jetblue wants to pay its pilots less than every other airline. Jetblue code shares are undermining US jobs. Jetblue wants its pilots to be janitors."
Lots of ways to skin a cat.

Yeah, I have to credit 1300 hours a year just to break even because of the loss of PTO sellback. Im anxious to read the rest of the agreement so that maybe there will be somewhere where I can make that up.
What a ****ing joke.

Can you show me the last ALPA negotiations that were done in public?
Heck even the MEC didn’t know exactly what the NC was working on.
If you want things to take even longer allow every LEC rep to put their finger into it and see how long it takes. Secret or not they get a chance to veto it and so do you.

It doesn't matter what the public thinks of our pay. We shouldn't be trying to convince them we need a raise. They have zero say in the process, except with their wallets.

I think "three years no contract" was adequate in sending the message. There's a certain level of decorum that I think ALPA expects out of our MEC, so some of those messages might cross some sort of line. I mean we could've had someone on the MEC yell on a megaphone during our January picket, but they told us all to be silent.
