Last annual bid awarded a May 2022 hire E190 Captain with training this fall, so about 18 months.
A supplemental bid comes out in the next day or two and next annual bid is in August, so that could change things either way with the E190 winding down.

Every class for the rest of the year will be BOS 190. We’re short FO’s by almost 200.

JFK 320 is also short. 583 FOs and 760 CAs as of the 3/2024 effective date. Throw in attrition—they’ll need a decent number of jfk 320 FO newhires. They did this bid weird though so it’s not as visible by keeping the target jfk 320 fo pilots low. Compare that to the last annual bid target pilots….vastly different. I suspect in the august bid those vacancies will be back.

Short?!? I was told we were gonna pause hiring because manning is so good…

So that 190 captain upgrade is like what, a couple of months plus training delay?

Found the answer. 04/23 hire, will be Capt effective 03/24.

And they’ll hold that position until they enter first officer training on another fleet that summer or fall. At this point upgrade times shouldn’t include the e90, it’s gone in 1.5 years and will be reduced to a dozen jets by Christmas next year.

The company approached the union this week about offering voluntary leave lines through the trough months.

We are overstaffed. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if they are accelerating the 190 departures now that the NEA is gone.

I understand the NEA is gone, but it's sad they can't find other uses for the planes and pilots in this HISTORIC high demand and low supply of air travel capacity. Even considering the troughs. Non-rev during the troughs in recent years has still not been fun.

Wont be overstaffed for long…we stop growth and movement the rats will be running to Delta faster than mgmt running away from LSC during a meltdown
