The pessimist will see even the best position and find something wrong. I do agree the company isn’t doing any favors helping morale and you can see it in the line. I myself think I’m optimistic and rather have that as a way of life for my mental health. Within the last month I have down with guys excited and optimistic about Europe thinking it’s going to give the company direction, I have also flown with a guy that says every company that has done it has failed and we will be doomed we, should focus focus on the Midwest growth because frontier and spirit are growing. Who knows who’s right. What I do know is that they are all pilots with little to no real notion on what the plan is or should be. The problem is they’re letting that dictate how they do their job and how they feel about coming to work. Simple if you don’t like it leave. It’s never too late but the pessimist will find a problem with that too. Both of the sides literally come on here like no other forum I’ve come across to argue their points highjacking what may very well be useful information sources for others. Take a look at any of the sub forums and it turn into children arguing. All this obviously is said completely in my opinion before anyone gets offended. I know how this can get!

I don’t think the Midwest happens till we get that new basic economy they were talking about. Europe is all the mint stuff and where we have good jump points from Bos and Jfk.

We are still that same airline flying people out of JFK and BOS to places we could make the most money and I think that points to Europe right now. The other thing is it would help diversify us so if Domestic flying is down Europe can help. If you look at the big guys that’s what tends to happen. I think it’s a logical step for us but like others I would just like some kind of plan.....pilots like plans.

On the surface, I think you are right, but the ALPA scheduling team should be your first stop.
FWIW I have emailed the ALPA guys several times about this and keep getting “we’ll get back to you” without ever getting back to me.

Trying to redirect this thread back to the topic, it has been very bad since March. I think with more vacations and guys using PTO vs selling it back and the company slow to bring new hires on to cover that time off creates the need to add coverage over the weekends.
That being said, I think they are shooting themselves in the foot to have RSV guys covering every single weekend creates entire lines of 3 and 4 day RSV blocks. With the first day limitation of not before 10am they lose a large portion of day 1. So now they have less RSV guys to cover the 4 and 5 and even 3 day trips so they have to break apart the trips double the amount of pilots needed to cover a single trip.
If they would just let me bid my 5 and 6 day blocks of RSV, yea I’d get some weekend days off, but they have me to cover the longer trips.

Thanks for trying, but it seems these forums are mostly for whining and complaining about how bad jetBlue sucks, and how anyone who is happy to be working here is an idiot, not for addressing and correcting actual issues, or at least trying to understand them.

To sum it up, your RSV rules suck, your management is toxic, your pay is terrible, you have zero future, get out as soon as you can to a "real" airline!

Oh yeah, and your profit sharing is abysmal. Did I miss anything?

Additionally, when a 4-5day trip drops into open time no lineholder can pick it up, whereas previously that 4-5 day trip might have been a day trip, a 2day trip and a 3day trip. All more manageable for a lineholder to pick up and cover.

RSV has been pretty brutal as of late. I try to bid 3day blocks of RSV only and bid PM each day. That limits me from getting too many long 4-5day trips

I have never gotten one of those 4 or 5 day RSV assignments. Longest has been 3 days, with the majority being 1-2.

That’s awesome, I guess I’ve just been lucky like that collecting sweet sweet per diem on those long trips!

Meh, some like them, some don't. For a commuter, they beat sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. For a home-based pilot, I would imagine they aren't as desirable.

I wonder how long this "coverage days" BS is going to last? Kind of defeats some of the other RSV perks that came with the CBA.

Coverage days are here to stay (especially this summer). That said, if you are in the top 40% of line holders for your bid group, you cannot be assigned a coverage day.
