I am here at B6, don’t plan on going anywhere.. I had the opportunity to go to UAL in 2013 as I was in their hiring pool left over from Feb 2008. All of my friends at UAL told me to stay at B6 as they hated going to work. It looks like we all may end up at UAL anyway, sometimes it’s hard to fight fate. Call me crazy but I still like going to work..
That’s hilarious and I don’t blame them. I took a United FO out with us in AUA and was like a freshman at college orientation. He said, “we don’t ever do this”.

Why isn't it sustainable? The E190 is essentially the same as a B717. Delta's A321 rate is only 11% more than the B717 rate. Our rates should say "small narrow body," "medium narrow body and "large narrow body." That might solve the problem, because too many people focus on the manufacturer instead of what it actually is.
(Sorry, I thought Passer's post was so good I had to copy).
Southerner, good post.

With regards to the upcoming annual August bid. Does anyone know if that bid will have the same 6 month effective date or will it be 12 months? Are you able to bid out of your seat lock if the bid’s effective date touches your 1 year anniversary date of hire? I’m seatlocked into an airplane that’s about trigger a cross country move which I’m not opposed to doing but would be nice to know all my options.

You nailed it! I’m originally from back east so going to BOS has pro’s for sure and I really enjoy New England but I really enjoy being out west too and I’ve been living 10 minutes from the LGB employee lot for the last 4 years and would like to kick the transcon move down the road a bit. Trans-con commute until the August 2020 bid plus effective date is not an option since we just started a family and I’d like to be present more than that would allow.

I appreciate all your input! The point of the seatlock is to keep me in place for a year so even if I get the award in August, they probably won’t let me go to training until 12 months on property. Is that a safe assumption?

12 months from class start date I believe is the correct timeframe, not completion of training. Helps a little.
