I’m not explaining it again. If you have a RAP start time....that is your showtime since your on Reserve. Pretty cut and dry. If you wanna try and play games you might get burned, you might not. It’s not something I would habitually do but maybe I’m more conservative than most.

If you’re assigned a flight like you said that day prior for instance, then you’re not assigned a RAP. You can then just show up for your trip. You’re saying two different things though which is confusing. Getting assigned a trip is different than a reserve period.

Because that would improve your QOL.

A RAP start time is definitely not a show time.

I’m trying to explain to him in the simplest of terms, that he needs to be 2.5 hours from his domicile when his RAP starts...not over ISO. Yes I know you don’t have to be at JFK and wait to answer the phone.

I agree. As a probie I wouldn’t be testing it. Though nothing I see in the CBA says you have to be contactable by phone starting at the RAP...theoretically jetcrw via WiFi on a plane could satisfy contactability requirements. But I also probably wouldn’t plan on arrive into LGA 1.5hr prior to a show time at JFK as a primary commute flight. If your flight got delayed into that situation, or you didn’t make the commute on the first attempt, I doubt it’d be a big deal every once in a while. But as a primary means, if it resulted in several occurrences of not being contactable or being late, it might end up with a CP offering some commuting advice in his office.

Yes the WiFi is a possibility as long as it’s Jetblue or you’re paying for it on another carrier. I’ve seen jumpseaters get creative. Trying to check-in for a trip on the JFund-4R since it almost overflies the airport.

No, this isn't Endeavor.

Exactly. Endeavor, a regional, had much better reserve rules.
Next contract....

You're right, and I'm 100% with you.

But JetBlue is different... and goes out of its way to make your life more difficult.

There will be many "but at my regional, [insert QOL item here] was way better" moments. Hopefully they're addressed in the next contract, assuming the misfits in the pilot group become educated.

Let’s just get the merger over with already with a Legacy and improve reserve overnight. A little bit of ready reserve, or maybe the opportunity to wait for an assignment during a 12 hr RAP instead of 10 hrs. Or even the ability to operate a flight up to 16 hours after you started reserve. What’s the formula again? Table B + 4 hours? AA is 12 days off in a 30 day month... we know Jetblue pilots like to work more.
