You can JS on AA getting out of the country , you just can't do it coming back to the States . However , I know someone who is on the jumpseating committee, for his airline and he told me that is going away in the upcoming future. Along with not being able to occupy the actual jumpseat on international flights, as an OAL jumpseater .

There is some bad info in this thread. You can’t just show up at the gate for any airline including Delta to jumpseat international. Homeland security requires all passengers to be listed for the flight 74 minutes prior to departure. No listing means you are not going. You also need to pay all international custom fees and taxes. In the case of Delta you need to get to the airport early and list and pay the fees prior to going to the gate. If you are at the gate and you have a knowledgeable agent you might be able to list and pay there if it’s still 74 minutes prior.

Thank you very much for the Intel. FWIW I was able to list as pilot commuting on an International flight inbound to the US tomorrow....I guess I'll find out if I can do it or not when I check it at the counter.

It is my understanding ( and experience ) that to JS out of the United States, you shouldn't have to pay taxes or fees. You will have to pay on the return to the US.

Incorrect. It all depends on the country. Many charge a little to enter, but a lot more to exit. I have seen taxes and low as $1.50 to get into a country, and $150 to.leave said country.

That makes sense. They didn’t ask for any payment leaving the USA for the UK, return trip was about $120.

Outbound no taxes on DL but on the way home I listed at the ticket counter and then was send across the terminal to pay the tax then went back to counter. It was a process but didn’t take long. When I took UAL FCO IAD I listed right at the gate in FCO as I was bumped from AA. UAL said they didn’t charge jumpseaters taxes so I paid nothing.
