6 Sept. hiring update
 

For those in the hiring process, the company sent an e-mail today. If you are in Phase 2 or the pool you probably got it. For those who didn't, here is the important part (word for word from the e-mail):

"Let’s Talk Phase II:
For those eager to complete Phase II and progress into our Pilot Pool, take heart. Phase II is comprised of a background check, a review of PRIA records, pre-employment testing, and a final decision made by our pilot hiring committee. Our hiring committee is comprised of some of our top pilots in leadership who carefully examine the entire file of all candidates who progress to Phase II before they come to a unanimous decision to be moved forward. It is a process that is incredibly thorough, embodies our five core values, and a process we are proud of. The combination of all these processes can take some time. Do not lose hope or enthusiasm, as we will soon begin filling our First Officers classes for October and look to hire approximately 18 First Officers for the month and 18 for our initial training class in November.

JetBlue Pool Status:
As of today—September 6th —we have a more than 45 pilots in the JetBlue Pilot Pool. Most candidates are from several different interview dates and those who have deferred their class date due to military/other commitments. Our September training classes are filled and candidates who interviewed in late April, early May 2019 and who cleared Phase II are near the top of the pool right now. We will be working on filling our October classes in the next 2 weeks."

Sounds like only 18 new hires in Oct and Nov? Bummer if true. Anyways, just wanted to pass along to those who may not have gotten this.

Seems like October newhire count was reduced. Last update (Aug) stated 40 for October. Now it's 18

Yeah, that's what I meant to say. Oct and Nov only 18 each.

I was bummed to see those numbers.....thought they needed to hire a total of 500 for 2019? And 500 for next year too?

No it doesn't. Hiring isn't for growth. Hiring needs to be for CBA compliance. It's "fly what you bid" right now because the grid is red across the board. In September.

How many have we hired so far this year?

I read that as 18 in the first class of November. I know the hurricane pushed back a lot of training events and a class is t getting the normal week off. Just shutting down for 2 days really screwed up the schedules.
