14 days of Boston E190 CA RSA in 11 days of November. But don’t worry we’re reducing the number of Boston E190 Captains by 20 seats by the end of 2020. Must be all the A220 deliveries.
Quality of Life from our transparent company. Maybe someone should bring that up at a Pocket a Session or ELT pizza party.

Would be awesome if someone with some excel skills made an interactive list like the one the United pilot made.
I’m not savvy enough with excel or I would give it a shot.
The one we have access to from the company isn’t really that great and you have to be on a company computer to get it to work.

I’m with Saintnick here.
My career expectations currently are to retire in the top 5 of a narrow body and top 10% of our list for a decade.
Should we actually start flying Europe it’s flying 321LR type(read 757 size) aircraft to Europe in the top 5.
I’m not sure where the #5 narrowbody pilot is at United but I would venture to guess it’s actually not very senior. With the number of wide bodies they have narrow body goes pretty junior.
With all that said if we merge with United within a few years I guarantee I wouldn’t be driving to work anymore and that alone is worth not merging for me. I want no part of ANY merger. Just continued steady growth here please. Not sure how realistic that is, but that is my preference.

The United seniority calculator is great but only looks at planned age 65 retirements. It is very conservative. It doesn’t reflect planned aircraft deliveries or retirements. It also assumes a pilot plans to stay in his/her base and equipment and seat until retirement. Wide body captain falls around 25% systemwide (currently most junior pilot holding captain on current open vacancy bid is number 4,000 overall) seniority but with all the wide body aircraft being delivered next year, it gives a super conservative estimate of one’s ability to hold that seat.

That would worst case partner for the pilot group. It would bring together 2 pilot groups with limited retirements in the next decade.
Although we are larger than AirTran was when they were acquired.
How was the AirTran deal structured? Was it a purchase or a merger. I can’t remember. Purchase under Guadalupe right?

And THIS is why most of us United pilots don't want to see a merger with you guys. Fear of OUR seniority taking a major hit.
How about we just let the chips lie where they fall.
Which this merger stuff would stop. The only ones who truly make out are a handful of the people at the top (management) and the boards.
Wall Str to a point too..
enough already (hopefully)

Although I agree, I think the legacy airlines better pray there are more mergers ahead. It’s either that or they shrink into looking like Europe.

I'll assume, based on your screen name, that you're an F9 pilot. Do you think that the average pilot with a 4 year college degree would rather be hired at F9 or American/Delta/Southwest/United?

5 years ago at United we had 10,000 applications on file. We have 13,000 now, and hiring about 1,000 per year. There is no way we wil ever run out of pilots until every regional, LCC, etc all run out, because we’d just take them from other airlines. My last 3 FOs came from JB, Alaska, and Skywest.
