Default N95 mask finally allowed

It took this long but we are allowed to wear the mask now. We only were exposed for a few weeks to NUC

Has ALPA given guidance on this?

Absolutely not. I’d rather catch corona.

Again, do we have guidance? Keep it snarky though.

What kind of guidance are you looking for? The company said you can wear it. The CDC has guidance on wearing of masks. Doesn’t seem like something the union would really need to weigh in on (or have expertise in) other than repeating what the company’s updated policy says. Perhaps I’m missing something though.

We were told to not wear a mask. In no uncertain terms. Now the language has changed. I’m looking for guidance from my union. Why is this hard to understand?

Where can you get a mask?

Unclear as to why you want your union’s opinion...are they a mask/covid-19 expert? Use the company’s uniform rules, the CDC’s guidelines for mask use, and your own judgment and make a choice on whether or not you want to use a mask. Doesn’t seem that difficult. Still unable to decide for yourself and want some union guidance? Call or text your rep. They are pretty responsive.

Unless you’ve been properly fitted for the mask, you’re rolling the dice. It’s entirely possible you’re getting ZERO benefit.

A few years back, I was doing EMS and had to fly a patient 2.5 hrs with an N95. I felt dang-near hypoxic from the restriction and ATC had a really hard time understanding my transmissions. And it was nasty. There was so much condensation inside the mask when we arrived...it was necessary, but not fun.
