Anyone wanna play WHAT IF
What if Trump stipulates loans (after Sep) have to come with keeping more jobs?
|
What if Spartacus had a Piper Cub?

I think it’ll be every airline for themselves after Sept 30th, but I guess anything is possible. What’s another 50B when you’re already trillions and trillions in debt.

If there's no obvious trend to sustainability, more bailouts will be likely, and those will come with strings again. But I doubt congress (the house really) will be able to stipulate no loss of pay or jobs a second time.

I could see some loan forgiveness if airlines keep employees onboard, something along those lines.
the Media will be praying for every piece of bad news to drag it on through the Summer. |
What if Wobbles guarantees 100% profit sharing to the pilots for 50% pay reduction... Would they still sell the company in bankruptcy’s anyways?

One of the few advantages B6 has is its commitment to running lean on staffing and no WBs. But we all better hope the Blue states open soon. Even Gruesome in CA is seeing the natives getting restless so theres that.
the Media will be praying for every piece of bad news to drag it on through the Summer. We are lean, and have a simple network (point to point instead of connect hubs) and relatively simple fleet (I wouldn't be surprised if we dump the 190s and go single fleet for a while). Our CASM is lower than the legacies and we will be better positioned to compete on price and focus on leisure travel. That being said, there will be pain for us too. I am still optimistic we won't furlough, but it will still be a bumpy ride. |
What If Obama tweeted his rejoice at Kim Jong-Un’s recovery.

Politics aside, I can't imagine any sitting president facing an election year would let tens/hundreds of thousands of people lose their jobs right at the time when your political opponent is ready to strike with attack ads and make a push to take your job.
Furloughs for us will happen 4 weeks before a presidential election. Who knows who else will be in the same, or worse boat as the airline industry at that point. Millions are going to need more aid before this is over or even comes back in a 2nd wave. Red tie, blue tie or yellow tie, doesn't matter, I feel it would be political suicide to do nothing right before the general. I don't think the airlines will see any more help since we already got billions, but other sectors certainly still need help, and more importantly, people need it as well. |
