Great point! I remember flying with many senior captains in 2006 who firmly believed there was a personal relationship that extended to having the pilot groups best interests in mind. Eight years later those same pilots were “Winchester” (empty on) blue juice.

Thank you to all of you for digging deep and doing the hard work to discern the facts and sharing!!

It’s not personal, just business.

Remember peer set group, medical, PS. Their job is to reduce CASM. Even though I would enjoy a 24 EIL that they “could” offer, I’m a, No.

100% this. We can only count on what's IN the TA.

I've been reading through this thread as an outsider so I don't know the true specifics, but from what it sounds like here I'm surprised your MEC even brought this to a vote. Why on Earth would you guys give up any hint of scope protections for a one shot 2% raise? What other guarantees are you getting out of this? Am I missing something?

Pilots are still afraid of COVID furloughs, but the fear will dissipate over the next several months. This “deal” offers furlough protection until November, and into next year if certain metrics are met.

Never let a tragedy go to waste.

Yeah I wouldn't let furlough fears take over at this point. Between the vaccine, pent up demand, and the virus waning in the warmer months, I think things are only gonna get better from here.

They're banking on fear. Don't let them.

Y'all had better get unified and get together on this deal or AA is going to make man love to your pilot group. This is a potentially staple job in the making.

Not saying it couldn’t happen; but AA is going to be in survival mode to service its debt for a very long time after this, much of that debt has Gov’t strings attached. (Just like all Airlines), some just have more debt than others. AA won’t be in the driver’s seat of any deal with JetBlue or any other Airline for that matter.

While I wouldn’t put it past APA to attempt a staple, can’t happen, and won’t happen, so let’s dispense of the threatening fear language...now massive fences on wide bodies, that’s a real player. But again, likely not happening and even if it did, not til they get their financial house in order, which will take many years of potential restructuring.

Regardless, how about we all just survive this pandemic, start flying again and wish the best of organic growth and prosperity to all!

Just remember, it was when US Airways was in bankruptcy, when much smaller (and financially better) America West came in and merged....

Bingo.

AA might well go through chap 11 restructuring in the coming 1-3 years.

They could exit with a dump truck full of cash and want the northeast back, or JB could provide the BK court with an acquisition plan that makes more AA (but not all) debt holders whole than completing chapter 11 as a stand alone.

Or other possibilities.
