So, 14-15 years to be the PLUG. Let's see, go well backwards in relative seniority in seat, work every weekend and holiday, lose all schedule flexibility, and go to the same roadside motel an hour outside London for a year, all for no additional pay... And no, they don't commute from London or have a second family there...
How do you know if there is an airline pilot at a party???

Hey what’s wrong with staying at the Hayes hideaway bed and breakfast. You get a welcome letter and 10% off the breakfast (free for others)

1. Calling water wet isn't a put down.
2. My comments don't apply to everyone, just those that gave up tons of relative seniority for, well, nothing. Other than telling their friends they are transatlantic pilots.
3. You would have seen no more than a couple posts from me in this thread about ego if there wasn't a bunch of guys saying pilots don't bid based on ego. Which simply isn't true. Those denials are the only reason you have seen additional posts from me on the subject.

I think the idea stems from us being a historically domestic LCC airline. This is the chance for some guys to do a new type of flying usually reserved for legacy/cargo widebody guys. But, it’s the same payrate as any other 320 pilot here. So it’s kind of silly imo. But the ego part I think still will exist. Another thing is it’s like the guys who still brag about being in the first 190 class. Guys want the mark of being the first...the first london class. Or the first 220 class. Or whatever. Something about being the first to do something seems to be a thing.
