Default New hires clarification

Hello,
just wondering how does this hiring process work, if someone here has a bit more intel, will appreciate. I’ve noticed some interviews post indicating “hired” right after a F2F, (varies between 3 to 5 days after an interview date) my understanding is that you are not officially hired till you get an offer and that depends on your background checks. Just read some latest post getting class dates within 2 weeks of a F2F. I’ve talked to friends that work there and they told me it takes about a month or 2 to get your background check all cleared then on to your job offer. I was fortunate to pass my F2F (I am very exited) about a month ago, and just received all those emails to start my fingerprints and drug test. I did get a reply about moving into phase II, 3 days after my Interview. So my experience does not exactly aligned what others have reported. Just wondering if there is something else I missed and therefore my application is moving really slow.

So I interviewed on the 23rd of September and when I was there several people mentioned that they were revamping the process because they were losing candidates to other airlines due to the length of time the process took. I received my “welcome to phase ii” email about 1 business day after the interview (interviewed Thursday afternoon and got the email Monday morning). Started working on the background check paperwork and then got my fingerprint/drug test email on Thursday night (9/30). On Friday, 10/1, right after I left my drug test appointment I got the class date email with an offer of 10/26.
The email I got states: “This is a conditional offer of employment contingent upon the successful outcome of the following compliance phase: Background Check”

I know of one other person that interviewed the same day as me that got offered the same class date
