It requires additional pilots and provides additional seniority options for us. SQ bases are good thing!

I hope they open SQ bases everywhere. LAX SQ yep. Fll SQ. Let’s go. Open them all!

Agreed, but reserve needs to be fixed.

Until they add a bunch more destinations, doing an ETOPS check for 1400 JFK and 600 BOS pilots would be close to impossible with a couple flights to London.

Imagine the logistics involved with giving the entire JFK and BOS pilot group a random 3 day of IOE.

True, the IOE portion would be a nightmare. Is there a way the Jb POI could someday allow a TATL crossing IOE to be completed in the sim if the pilot already has a certain level of A320 experience? Maybe a quick TATL flight like YQX-SNN in the sim and bam! You're a SQ py-lut now!

Just trying to brainstorm the worst case scenarios

I know UAL quals an entire 737 base as etops even though they don't do much etops flying with it.

If narrow body TATL is truly the future for JB then they will find a way to train at least all of the BOS/JFK 320 pilots. Also consider that the A220 fleet will grow in the NE which will reduce the 320 crews in these two hubs. Heck, even if we get WBs someday then it might still make sense for all BOS/JFK 320 pilots to be ETOPs qual'd assuming we keep all the LR/XLRs planned for delivery.

Unless we acquire a theoretical a220-500 to replace the a320s, I don’t see a320 NYC/BOS decreasing. The a220s are replacing e90 flying and growing both bases into new markets.

I think the -500 is a matter of time and yes first priority is replacing 190s, but we’ve seen 220s already on some long/thin stuff like BOS-PHX/PDX/DEN/SLC/Texas although some has swung back to the 320 recently (delivery/reliability issues?)

5 years from now I could see the -500 being a reality, the 190s are gone, and 320 fleet in BOS/JFK being smaller.

I don’t think JetBlue is very happy with the -300, not sure if they’d be head over heels if the A220-500 comes to fruition.

Interesting, do you think they would warm up more to NK’s 320neo orders vs converting them to 321 variants?

If they weren’t happy with it they wouldn’t have topped off their order book….. twice.

All indications are they are mad at the correct delivery delays of the type.
